Education extends beyond the confines of the school and requires active parental involvement. As students navigate between home and school, it is crucial for parents to engage actively in their child’s educational journey. Merely paying school fees is not enough; regular interaction with teachers and involvement in your child's education is essential.
Parental Responsibilities:
1. PUNCTUALITY & REGULARITY:
Arrival: Ensure your child arrives at school by 7:50 a.m., as classes begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. The school gates close at 8:00 a.m., and habitual lateness (more than twice a month) will lead to disciplinary action.
Assignments: Monitor and ensure that your child completes all projects and home assignments on time. Check their school bag, books, and registers daily.
School Diary: Your child must bring their school diary every day. Complete the required details on the front and inside cover pages, including specimen signatures on page, sign any messages, progress reports, or documents when requested.
2. GROOMING & INDEPENDENCE:
Appearance: Ensure your child is well-groomed daily bathed, in clean school uniform, with neatly combed hair, and trimmed nails. Boys should have their hair cut every three weeks and avoid stylish haircuts.
Self-Reliance: Encourage your child to be self-sufficient by teaching them to dress themselves, polish shoes, and prepare their school bag and uniform the night before to avoid morning rush.
3. SCHOOL UNIFORM:
Compliance: Ensure your child wears the correct uniform and shoes as specified. Non-compliance will require you to collect your child from school.
Authorized Tailoring: Uniforms should be purchased from the authorized tailor to maintain consistency and cost-effectiveness. Avoid alterations that make trousers tight or otherwise non- standard.
4. CLEANLINESS:
Hygiene: Promote cleanliness at home by involving your child in maintaining their personal space and surroundings.
School Environment: During school visits, avoid littering, especially near the canteen.
School Bag: Regularly check your child’s school bag to ensure it is tidy and contains only necessary items. Prohibited items include mobile phones, CDs, and wristbands. Overloading the bag should be avoided.
5. LEAVE OF ABSENCE:
Permission: Students who arrive late or were absent the previous day must get permission from the Class Teacher or Headmistress. Unplanned absences must be reported immediately.
Application: For absences of 1-3 days, use the school diary. For longer absences, submit a written application. For sick leave over three days, include a medical certificate.
Reopening Day: Ensure your child attends school on the first day after vacations. Absence without prior leave incurs a fine of Rs. 50 per day, and repeated absence may lead to dismissal.
Medical Leave: Inform the school before the reopening day if your child is sick and present a medical certificate. Absence of more than five days post-vacation without valid reasons may lead to dismissal.
6. WITHDRAWAL FROM SCHOOL:
Notice: Notify the Principal in writing at least one month before withdrawing your child during the academic year, or a one-month fee will be charged. For withdrawals in April or May, fees up to June must be paid.
Re-admission: Not applicable for end-of-session withdrawals.
7. DISCIPLINARY ACTION:
Behavior: Disciplinary action will be taken for repeated bullying, fighting, or abusive language. Students must not bring dangerous materials to school.
Exams: Using unfair means during exams or tampering with answer sheets will result in a zero for the subject and possible dismissal upon repetition.
8. CONTACTING YOUR CHILD:
During School Hours: Parents or visitors are not allowed in classrooms. In emergencies, contact the school office.
Mobile Phones: Strictly prohibit mobile phone use during school hours.
Tiffins: Avoid sending tiffins through third parties; consider sending money for canteen use instead.
Teacher Meetings: Contact teachers during their free periods with prior permission from the Headmistress.
9. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Requests: Use the school diary for all special requests or notifications, not separate sheets.
Identification: Attach an identification tag to the blazer for Prep and Junior School students.
Expenses: Limit the amount of money given to your child to prevent loss or theft.
Personal Items: Ensure your child has necessary school items and discourage taking others' belongings.
SMS Alerts: Verify SMS alerts for accuracy. If discrepancies are found, cross-check before reacting.
10. CONSTRUCTIVE ENGAGEMENT:
Feedback: Avoid criticizing teachers in front of your child. Address concerns directly with the Headmistress.
PTM Attendance: Attend Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) to stay informed about your child’s academic progress.
Note: Funds collected from fines support underprivileged students at the school.
