In response to the socio-economic disparities prevalent in our country and following a thorough evaluation of the educational mission of the BUNI globally, Nisheman School has introduced a new policy orientation. This approach reflects our commitment to fostering inclusivity and social responsibility. Here are some key aspects of these changes:
1. THE CLIENTELE:
To promote fairness and counter any tendencies towards elitism, we prioritize admissions for students from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Since 1978, we have reserved 20% of seats in the Prep Class for students from underprivileged sections of society, and we aim to increase this percentage over time with the support of our school community. While focusing on inclusive admissions, we remain dedicated to fulfilling our special responsibility towards the education of Christian students.
2. EDUCATION RELEVANT FOR A NEW INDIA:
Our educational philosophy aligns with the ideals of the Indian Constitution and the Government of India's new education policy, emphasizing support for the poor and marginalized. We strive to offer an education that bridges societal divides by providing opportunities to the underprivileged. This effort contributes to moving beyond a dualistic society, addressing the gap between the affluent and the marginalized, and empowering those without a voice.
We are committed to integrating diverse societal segments through cooperative educational programs that foster mutual growth and shared experiences. Our approach challenges the conventional values of a post-industrial society, promoting unity and inclusivity instead.
3. CURRICULUM AND PEDAGOGY:
We are dedicated to providing a holistic education that goes beyond academic excellence. Our curriculum incorporates life skills, ethical values, and social awareness to prepare students for real-world challenges. We emphasize experiential learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, ensuring that students are equipped to navigate and contribute positively to a rapidly changing world.
4. SUPPORT FOR DIVERSE LEARNING NEEDS:
Recognizing that every child is unique, we are committed to catering to diverse learning needs through individualized support. Our teaching strategies are designed to address various learning styles and paces, ensuring that each student can achieve their full potential. We provide additional resources and support for students with special educational needs to ensure an inclusive learning environment.
5. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND SERVICE:
We believe in the importance of community service and civic responsibility. Our students are encouraged to participate in community service projects and outreach programs, fostering a sense of social responsibility and empathy. These initiatives help students understand the broader societal context and contribute positively to their communities.
6. SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY:
In alignment with global efforts to promote environmental sustainability, we integrate environmental education into our curriculum. We actively engage students in eco-friendly practices and projects, encouraging them to become responsible stewards of the environment. Our school facilities are designed to be environmentally conscious, with initiatives aimed at reducing waste and conserving resources.
7. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR STAFF:
We recognize that the quality of education is directly linked to the competency of our staff. Therefore, we invest in continuous professional development for our teachers and administrative staff. Regular training and workshops ensure that our staff are up to date with the latest educational practices and methodologies, enhancing their ability to provide high-quality education.
8. PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT:
We value the role of parents in the educational process and actively encourage their involvement in school activities. Regular communication and engagement with parents help create a supportive learning environment and reinforce the school’s educational objectives. We offer various platforms for parents to participate in school events, provide feedback, and collaborate with teachers.
9. SAFETY AND WELL- BEING:
The safety and well-being of our students are paramount. We have implemented comprehensive safety protocols and measures to ensure a secure school environment. Our policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated to address any emerging concerns, ensuring that students feel safe and supported while at school.
